February 20, 2016 - 1:00 - 3:00pm - Support K-12 STEM Education - Volunteer at the ASCE Tooth Pick Bridge Building Event!

As a society that is interested in manufacturing, we all know the importance of STEM education in our K-12 system. Each year the Atlanta Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers hosts the Atlanta Toothpick Bridge Building event at Fernbank, in partnership with SME and SEA. The goal is to design and build a bridge-type structure in one of two categories: Toothpick Category and Open-Materials Category.  After entrants have designed and built their bridges, the event provides a convenient, fun-filled place to test them and see how well they work. The primary group of entrants is students in middle school, however, the event is open to all (younger and older kids, as well as parents!).

ASCE is seeking 14 volunteers to help with the registration, check-in, testing, and certificates. Volunteers will need to arrive by 12:00 for orientation.

If you would like to volunteer, contact Larry Prescott at: lprescott@hntb.com or 404-558-9627.
